Good news for fans of Baymax: the Big Hero 6 spin-off series “Baymax!” will be premiering on Disney+ in summer 2022.
Baymax first appeared in Big Hero 6— the animated film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios that won an Oscar and grossed over $675 million at the box office.
In the film, Hiro Hamada, a smart teenager who loves robotics, forms a superhero team to find a masked guy that caused his brother’s death. The team, named Big Hero 6, consists of Baymax, Go Go Tomago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred, and Hiro himself.
And in 2017, the adventures of Hiro, Baymax, and their friends continued in a TV series titled Big Hero 6 The Series. The TV series aired on Disney Channel until mid-February 2021.
Well, Baymax! is not a sequel nor prequel to Big Hero 6, but a spin-off.
In the trailer that was recently released by Disney, Baymax is seen helping the residents of San Fransokyo—from being a barista at the coffee shop owned by Hiro’s aunt, Cass, to teaching young children to wear plasters. The animated series is also the first produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Plot details regarding Baymax! are still unknown. However, Scott Adsit, who voiced Baymax in the film Big Hero 6 and Big Hero 6 The Series, will return to voice the healthcare companion robot.
The series, which will air in 2022, is developed by Don Hall, who previously directed Big Hero 6. At Disney’s Investor Day 2020, Hall said that the Baymax! will focus on the adorable robot. “The series really focuses on Baymax’s original protocol, which is to be a nurse robot,” he said.
Do you guys think Hiro Hamada and his friends will appear in the series?
