Information for AR Pokemon players, Niantic and Pokemon Go players is currently updating to return the PokeStop & Gym interaction radius to the standard distance, 80 meters to 40 meters.
According to the Pokemon Go dataminer, the PokeStop interaction distance has been updated in several countries and players need to be closer to be able to interact and play PokeStops.
PokeStops interaction distance is back to normal currently only in New Zealand and the US, but it looks like this change will soon be made worldwide at some point. According to the quote on the official Pokemon Go blog:
“Over the next few months, we plan to remove or change some of the bonuses that were presented last year. We won’t be making these changes until after the Pokemon GO Fest in July, and we’ll be removing them for testing in the US and New Zealand starting late July. We will be removing or changing them on a rolling basis in other countries and regions from time to time, and at the same time introducing new exploration bonuses.”Niantic
In the previous year’s update, the interaction distance between PokéStops and Gyms was increased this is due to the effects of covid-19 around the world, a change in the radius of 40 meters to 80 meters occurred to allow players to interact with pokestops from a distance. After this update, the distance will return to the standard distance, but may later be increased again at certain events or as part of certain features.
Keep in mind that these updates and bonuses apply in some parts of the world, so they don’t happen worldwide. So, what do you think about this new update?
