AppStore and GooglePlay have removed the hugely popular battle royale mobile game Fortnite from their list of applications because it violated the existing payment system, which led Epic Games as a Fortnite developer to take legal action for the issue of removed their game.
The decision to delete was made because Fortnite avoided adhering to the profit-sharing system that applies to both stores. Epic Games said they felt that the AppStore and GooglePlay were continuously taking advantage.
Epic Games knowingly violates existing guidelines through a mega drop event, Epic Games as a Fortnite developer will provide 20% discount if players make payments via Epic Direct Payment.
With a video published on YouTube entitled Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite and the hashtag #FreeFortnite, Epic Games voiced resistance to the AppStore which is considered to have monopolized the market, blocked competition, and hindered innovation.
After the deletion incident, Epic Games received support from various parties.
